The Weekend

Monday May 31, 2004

Went to Palm Springs this weekend with the relatives. We stayed at Embassy Suites, which had this really cool “drink hour” or whatever it was where they gave out free drinks (alcoholic and non) and nachos with crazy salsa and pretzels. Then in the morning they had free breakfast, cooked to order. All of this included in the room price.

Went swimming for what I think is the first time in four years. I forgot how much I used to like it. I almost forgot how to swim, too.

A few weeks back I ordered a skin from Lajo to protect my iPod from scratches, the exo3 model to be exact. The thing about it, is it’s super-thin and because of the silicon used it’s extremely sticky and hard to get it into the right position. I used a suggested baby-powder trick over at iPodlounge and surprise, works like a charm. The skin is now silky smooth and goes on without a hitch.

Received word from Brad that the new Garden State trailer is out. Postal Service, Travis, Natalie Portman. Someone’s reading my mind. This movie will rule. And Napoleon Dynamite screening this Tuesday!

Thumb Wrestling!

Saturday May 29, 2004

A massively multiplayer thumbwrestling competition was recently held in Vienna. Chain, Snowflake, Token Ring, Peer to Peer styles! This is hilarious, I need to go find people to play massively multiplayer thumbwrestling with now.

Saddest E-mail Ever

Thursday May 27, 2004

The saddest e-mail ever, sent to me by my cousin:

BRAD PITT!

Last night I was supposed to go to a dinner for my English class at Acapulco. I couldn’t go because I had an appreciation banquet for Office of Residential Life. Today in my English class I found out BRAD PITT was there.

My English professor’s sister married the man who wrote “Sound of Music” (he is 80, she is 30, they have a 2-year-old). He was a screenwriting consultant for “Troy”, and he brought Brad Pitt to the dinner.

I’M SO MAD I DIDN’T GO TO THE DINNER!!! I missed out. Thought you would all like to know my story of how I *ALMOST* had Mexican food w/ Brad Pitt.

Love,
Celene

Some Links

Some links for bored people to read.

Slate has an article about the Celebrity Playlists availabie on iTunes. I love how Beyonce listens to her own music. Good stuff about making a mix tape though, I think it’s rather hard to make a good one unless you have a broad taste in music.

The worst of the bunch are those celebrity playlists padded with the celebrity’s own songs, epitomized by the queen of the craven playlist, Beyoncé Knowles. Eight of the 14 songs on Beyoncé’s playlist are performed by her thin-voiced sister, Solange, by her former bandmates in Destiny’s Child, or by Beyoncé herself.

Time’s latest issue, on newstands now, discusses the reemergence of retro styling and 1950’s art decor. Link only for those who enjoy making the big bucks just to afford contemporary furniture, like me.

A flash-based game that’s fun and a bit hard to describe. It’s called N and alerted to me by Brad who found it over at Penny-Arcade.

Finally, an extremely nice panorama of Paris. Well worth the wait.

Fun little flash game. Just click and drag, pretty self explanatory.

Here We Go

Tuesday May 25, 2004

Well I’m back again, this will be my temporary solution. I think everyone’s wondering what happened to boredom (valloq.com).

Well, JP already said it best on his site, lemme just copy and paste:

Eric’s site is gone. The company/guy who was hosting it has disappeared. He’s tried calling the number he found through WHOIS but it was a fax machine. He said the address listed under WHOIS is an apartment complex or something. It all seems pretty fishy to me. Doing a google search for the company Cube X Hosting (www.cxhosting.com) came up with some online contact information for the guy in charge (I think).
I found the following:

Cube X Hosting
www.CXHosting.com
AIM: CubeXH, Yahoo: CubeXH, ICQ: 141385855

Here’s the WHOIS information in case some other poor souls looking for info on this guy come across my site:

Anyhow, the biggest complaint of Eric’s is that he can’t get his files back. He’ll either have to start over or give up, and I’m sure there are plenty of people that don’t want him to stop his site. Maybe Eric should hire some thugs in South Carolina to make a visit to this guys place and “rough him up.” That’d be cool.

I googled the address there and found that it’s an apartment complex, which coincidentally has their own website. I fired off an e-mail to them yesterday, but no response yet. This morning I also made a post over at the WebHosting Talk forums. If anyone could help, it would be really appreciated.

To sum it up, I’m just really pissed that my host left without telling me. I hadn’t had a chance to backup the site in a long while, which I’ll admit is my own fault, but still. There goes a year of boredom down the drain, along with all the babes and photos, and I don’t think I have the templates lying around anywhere. But this is gonna have to do for now. I needed someplace to post. Blogging is an addiction.
