Well first off, everyone’s been knocking on this movie, and I didn’t think it was that bad at all. Maybe it had something to do with expecting the movie to be bad, so my expectations were low. But let’s jump right into it:
The twists. Back when the trailers first came out, I started speculating right away about what the monsters and the villages could really be. Cause you know, c’mon, there’s gotta be a twist. I never imagined that all of them would end up being right though. That’s not to say I was able to really guess it this time around, but still.
Now that that’s out of the way, I still enjoyed the movie. A good mix of humor and suspense, and I still think M. Night Shyamalan is a really good director and writer. I guess for some people the twist just ruins it for them, although it needs to be understood that the twists in his stories are never the main plotline. It’s not like you don’t enjoy “The Sixth Sense” until you find out that he’s a ghost too, and it’s not like you don’t enjoy Unbreakable until you find out that he’s a villain. I really enjoyed Bryce Dallas Howard playing the Ivy character as well. I for one am not disappointed with having to pay $8 to see this, although it was kind of funny cause all their ticket prices are whole numbers now ($10, $8, $6), and I paid with a gift certificate card that had $1.50 left, and the sad thing is the lady didn’t have any change to give me, so she had to swipe the 50 cents back into my card. Yeah that wasn’t too funny.
I loved the way they talked. The shed that shall not be used, those who we do not speak of, etc… My site will from now on be called The site that shall be constantly visited.
