The Ashlee Simpson blunder on last night’s episode of SNL hit the internet ridiculously fast. There’s not a whole lot to say that can’t be explained here or with this video clip of what happened.
But then she finally came on stage to do her song and we could hear her singing before she even put the microphone up to her mouth! Then the singing went away. Ashlee looked soooo confused, then she broke into some kind of weird Riverdance jig, laughed the way people laugh when they find out that one of their parents just died–you know, like “Nice joke!,” before it really hits them–and then wandered off stage.
I can hear everyone out there laughing at the same time, but what I can’t believe are people who feel sorry for her. Sorry for what? She can’t sing! Does anyone see something wrong with that picture?

If she can’t sing, and you don’t like the music, don’t listen; it’s simple. She’s still human, and it’s still more embarassing and at a higher magnitude of it than you’ll ever experience, barring that Eric one day becomes famous, which I doubt, highly.
It SHOULD be more embarassing than anything we’ll ever experience - for one reason: only talentless hacks do such stupid things that deserve such embarassment! She deserves everything she’s getting today for exactly what she does on stage… Thankfully this hackery has been caught and it *might* change this horridly declining pop industry… Well, probably not.

I’ve been hearing that something happened to her, but this is the first time i heard what. Now just to get her sister outta here lol.
i don’t feel sorry for ashley simpson at all. she was caught lip-synching. it was a supposed to be a live performance and she was caught lip-syncing. its no surprise… i hear britney lip-synchs live shows regularly. kinda defeats teh whole purpose of a live performance….
it really is a shame that real musicians struggle with record contracts and radio air-play while these “psuedo” musicians, pushed by companies interested in product not art or music, capitalize and make millions. lip-synching, digital correction/enhancement… how about actually learning and developing some real skills? wanna really experience a musician’s work? see them live.
i told eric this and i’ll say it again.. god is a musician.
You can blast pop music and fake musicians as much as you like….but people still listen to it…right? Perhaps she gets all the credit for the “music”, but a lot of effort goes into making it sound good for people to enjoy.
Sometimes what people don’t understand about music is…..it is an ART….it doesn’t all need to be CREATED the same way…just because someone can’t sing it does not mean that they cannot entertain via whatever it is that thewy do: ashlee and other “artists”
Music does not need to come from a grammy wining artists….and despite the fact that she cannot perform it live….that’s not what concerns people when they listen to music.
I’ve also heard the nonsense about people only listening to pop music because that is what the radio plays….fine…that might be true…. but who cares what they’re listening to….they enjoy it….. maybe that’s the type of ART they like….and it makes them happy…. bashing people for it is stupid
Music isn’t like politics or important decisions where following a majority blindly effects anything….in the end of the day it’s just a way to make people feel better, more relaxed…etc…whatever someone’s music does for them…
