How many 5-year-olds could you take on at once? This is quite possibly one of the best questions ever. At first I was only thinking three, but I think I overestimate the power of 5-year-olds and I’m imagining 10-year-olds instead. Here’s some insight:
calkidd32: man i’ve worked with kindergartners this past year
calkidd32: 15 easy
calkidd32: very few of them have great hand coordinatioon
calkidd32: a simple push would send them down
calkidd32: then you attack
calkidd32: i’m gonna ask all my counseling friends
MyBodyIs4Sale: i think the best idea is to knock one out
MyBodyIs4Sale: then swing them around by their feet
MyBodyIs4Sale: and you really must protect the testicles
MyBodyIs4Sale: if you had a cup, i think you could take down quite a few more
LocustSky462: maybe not 30, but i’d start with 15
LocustSky462: i figured i could just pick one up and swing them around to knock the others out
valloq: I was thinking
valloq: punk the first few
valloq: and then take their shoes off and tie ‘em up and swing it around like a nunchuck
I’m a small guy and not too strong either, but I think I could take 10 or so.
State-of-the-art interactivity? Attacking the entrants of an interactive design competition, he makes some points that I whole-heartedly agree with.

Julie: She was like, two millifeet in front of him.
Me: …millifeet.

Tricks of the Trade. Even though a lot of them don’t apply, they’re all still very clever.
Annie Leibovitz - “American Music”. These are some incredible photos. Digging the Ryan Adams, White Stripes, and Norah Jones portraits.
Dear Eric,
Please update me.
Thanks,

Lexon Sound Gum. Really digging the magnetic headphones idea. The Lexon site is very cool as well. The artsy design nerd in me wants to just buy everything they have.
Disgusting doggie poo on a computer. Ew.
Johansen Creates DRM-Free Interface to iTunes. Amazing that someone could actually make this, but I doubt it’s gonna stick around for long.
Will Wright Presents Spore… and a New Way to Think About Games. This is just amazing. The game sounds like everything Peter Molyneux has been attempting.

I’m such a nerd that I looked up “poached eggs“. I don’t think I’ve ever actually had any poached eggs. I always get either scrambled or over-easy.
I wasn’t aware of this before, but apparently Exorcist: The Beginning went through some very drastic changes during production. The movie was originally directed by Paul Schrader, had been completely done and cut. Yet when it was viewed by the studio, they didn’t like it at all and hired Renny Harlin to completely reshoot the movie. Bloody News has an exclusive review of the Schrader version. I’m really interested on getting my hands on both to get a good comparison of two directors working with the same script.
Somehow I had the idea in my head that a lot of this movie would consist of philosophical conversations, seeing as how Tom Cruise plays a hitman and Jamie Foxx an unwilling cab driver. The thought provoking questions do come up during the course of the movie, but never in a heavy-handed manner.
I really enjoyed how the action scenes were very un-Hollywood. Not a lot of fast, flashy cuts, but more with a shocking realism that leaves you in state of disbelief at how easily people are killed.
Interesting choice on the decision to use digital in certain scenes. It sort of jarred me because it was really noticeable. I read that the choice was made because it captured the night feeling of LA better, but it also made me feel like it was more real because of the way digital is associated more with home-made movies.
Highly recommended and wouldn’t have minded to catch this one in the theater.
I’m sure mostly everyone has been the trailer for Revenge of the Sith by now. Impressive. Dark. Jedi-y. My hopes are up a little, but I’ll still go in expecting to be disappointed. I won’t bother linking to the trailer since I think it should be fairly easy to find.
Spike Jonze does a commercial for Adidas.
I never thought I’d listen to another Kelly Clarkson song after hearing the dreadful “Breakaway”, but “Since U Been Gone” is ridiculously good. The Ted Leo cover of it is great as well. Totally ripped and stolen from kottke.
Well, according to Google, today is International Women’s Day. I think that last post I made about my comments concerning women must be rather inappropriate now. You all know I was joking, right? Women aren’t dayworkers, that’s what Mexicans are for.
This has been edited for privacy reasons. It’s still funny though.
friend: yesterday i helped the guy I’m seeing work on his backyard
friend: my back is SOOOOOOO SORE
friend: i pulled weeds, shoveled dirt and built a brick wall
valloq: wow
valloq: I’m gonna make you my girlfriend when I need some construction work done
friend: hahhaa
valloq: I mean, I knew that you girls were used for sex and making me look good
valloq: but yard work
valloq: holy shit

valloq: this puts a whole other angle on this
friend: you are terrible
valloq: you’re like, prostitutes, maids, and now dayworkers all rolled into one
Apple G5 LED Hack. This is so sweet.
They Stopped Calling It Rendezvous. Man meets woman using iTunes music sharing. Cute.
Avoiding Tolls on the Massachusetts Turnpike. This time, instead of throwing in $1.00, I decided to tape two pictures of rap superstar 50 Cent, because that adds up to a dollar.
This is the same person who a while back did an experiment signing random names on his credit card receipts, and a part 2 where he finally finds a store that checks his signature.
