Scientology Losing Ground To New Fictionology. Haven’t had an Onion post in a while. This one is gold.

“Scientology is rooted in strict scientific principles, such as the measurement of engrams in the brain by the E-Meter,” Kurz said. “Scientology uses strictly scientific methodologies to undo the damage done 75 million years ago by the Galactic Confederation’s evil warlord Xenu—we offer our preclear followers procedures to erase overts in the reactive mind. Conversely, Fictionology is essentially just a bunch of make-believe nonsense.”

The Boy You Trained, Gone He Is, Consumed By Darth Vader

As we all know, George Lucas really knows how to make good trailers. Episode 1 and 2 looked great until we finally saw the movies. So if you want to feel that way again, watch only this trailer and do not watch the movie. The music, the pacing, the tone…perfect. We can only hope that the whole movie is like this. From El Guapo.

He Lives

Posting for the sake of getting the cool 05.05.05 date.

For some reason I feel even more tired lately than I usually am. Come home, eat dinner, relax a bit, shower, relax some more, and it’s bedtime. I’ve been fiddling with my powerbook here and there. I’ll do a write-up when I can get all my thoughts collected, but as of yet I haven’t done anything truly “productive” with it. It’s become my little chat buddy.

I’ve been enjoying my music lately. Discovering new songs and bands and delving into an endless selection that I don’t think I’d ever have enough time in the world to listen to all of it.

Claw machines at Dave ‘n’ Buster’s and bowling alleys are the best.

More On How I Use iTunes

Sunday May 1, 2005

I’m very meticulous about my music collection and how it’s organized. For anyone who uses iTunes, they’ll know that tags are the key, and I’m sure everyone is aware of how certain songs in their collections are louder or quieter than others, like their volume is inconsistent.

After downloading songs, I drag and drop them into MusicBrainz, which is about 90% effective in tagging my songs for me and doing so in a very consistent manner. Then I pop them into MP3Gain to normalize their volumes (This does not degrade the quality), and then finally load them into my collection.

I’ve found Audioscrobbler to be excellent at tracking my music listening habits as well. They recently added a few new features, such as a Weekly Artist Chart and a Weekly Track Chart. Here’s my page for anyone interested, and anyone using iTunes on a PC with their iPod will notice that Audioscrobbler does not track songs listened to on the iPod, but there’s a plugin to do that.
