Thread- who?

Sheltered from Oddica

I first learned of Oddica when I saw the link on Dan Cederholm’s site. At first Oddica looked like all the other (nearly) indistinguishable t-shirt sites on the web such as Threadless and Busted Tees, but Oddica is focused a lot more on the artists than the consumers.

Aside from Oddica licensing and not owning the artists’ designs, the artists also receive 41% of the net profit, $500 for each design, and $500 everytime a design is reprinted. I’m not exactly a t-shirt designer myself, but when a company treats the artists with this much respect, I expect them to treat their customers the same.

Plus, they have a Star Wars themed shirt. Star Wars themed shirt = must buy for Eric.

Their store finally went live last Friday, and within minutes of them opening I placed my order. The shirts arrived today, and they definitely know how to make their customers feel special.

My Oddica Package

The shirts came packaged in a resealable ziploc bag with artwork on both sides. Inside the bag were my shirts, along with 3 buttons of the shirt designs I bought, a sticker, postcards of other shirt designs, and customer/artist cards that say “Re-Order Use” (Does anyone know what these are for?). Fun extras make me feel like I got my money’s worth.

I will be ordering from them again, and highly recommend any other T-shirt nerds do the same.

On a side note, I’ve recently noticed that American Apparel shirts don’t shrink as much as they used to anymore. Just a heads-up for anyone else that is used to AA’s sizing.

Updates

I’ve washed the American Apparel Medium shirt, and it definitely fits better than the older mediums I’d ordered. Length-wise they’re about the same, but the shoulder seams are wider so the fit isn’t as tight. As for the larges however, the recent ones I ordered are about an inch or two longer in length. Two of my friends have reported the AA shirts fitting differently as well, so I guess this is now confirmed?

The great people at Oddica have also been very friendly and great on the customer service. I’ve read on a couple of sites reports of customers having issues ordering or not receiving stickers with their purchase, and Oddica has come through for them every time. Brian from the Oddica staff has also been cool enough to ask me for feedback on which prints I’d like to see printed next. How’s that for good service?
