I wasn’t excited at all by the previews for Cars. The story didn’t seem all that interesting and the humor was flat. Even with my low expectations though, I enjoyed Cars, but it’s probably the worst of Pixar’s films so far, although the worst of Pixar is still better than most of the other movies out right now.
The most obvious problem with the movie was the poor pacing. The movie was slow in the beginning and felt rushed in the last 15 minutes. And the whole NASCAR culture just doesn’t appeal to me, and I was never fully immersed with the Cars universe like I was with the plastic toys or the underwater sea life. I guess you could say the movie was a little flat.
Their usual short-before-the-feature “One Man Band” was awesome though. Wonderfully done.
